“Day of the Dead (known as Día de los Muertos in Spanish) is celebrated in Mexico between October 31st and November 2nd. On this holiday, Mexicans remember and honor their deceased loved ones. It’s not a gloomy or morbid occasion, rather it is a festive and colorful holiday celebrating the lives of those who have passed on. Mexicans visit cemeteries, decorate the graves and spend time there, in the presence of their deceased friends and family members. They also make elaborately decorated altars (called ofrendas) in their homes to welcome the spirits.” (From: www.gomexico.about.com)
When you love decor and you love Mexican tradition as much as we here at Del Cabo Event Design do, then creating a Dia de los Muertos altar like this is truly a labor of love.
Here’ s close up of our beloved Frida, who is so iconic in our parts, and how we included candles, flowers and food to design something creative and festive:
Not only did we design this stunning altar for this event, we also provided the decor for an amazing dinner as well, incorporating the bright colors, fabulous florals, and and unique use of decor elements to create the type of space for which we are known!
While some tables glowed with hot pink chair covers and napkins, others sparkled in orange. Our flowers, as usual, brought everything to life on these tables!
