You’re so excited about the lushness, the down-right fabulousness of your event decor! It’s lavish, glamourous, elegant and exciting. It’s color-coordinated, trendy, and dazzling. Great! But we’ve all seen those events where the decor is just…too much! How do you know when you’ve crossed the line?
#1 It’s too much if…your guests can not talk to each other or see each other.
The flowers are lovely, the candles shimmering! But they crowd the table, crowd the plates, tower over everything. It’s like a flower-jungle on the table. No one can see each other to talk, get to know each other, praise your amazing decor…or even eat. It’s TOO MUCH!
#2 It’s too much if…your guests can not hear anything.
You’ve hired the most popular band, DJ, trio, MC. But, if your guests can not hear their neighbor, or make small talk with others at their table, or if their ear drums feel like they are going to burst (even while they’re dancing)…it’s TOO MUCH!
#3 It’s too much if…it makes you uncomfortable financially by exceeding your budget.
We know, we know. You just LOVE the ice sculpture or the indoor skating rink or the belly dancers at each table. But…their cost pushed you into the danger zone, budget-wise. If you are nervous or uncomfortable or downright scared of the cost, then…it’s TOO MUCH!
#4 It’s too much if…your groom/boss hates it.
Let’s face it. Rarely are we doing the planning for an event alone. We’ve all got someone to answer to. Maybe your boss is conservative party-wise and is not comfortable with throwing the iced tequila shot glasses at the wall. Maybe your groom hates lavender and you’ve decided that lavender is THE color for your wedding. If you’re significant other truly hates something you’ve included in your event decor, then…it’s TOO MUCH!
-It’s too much if…all your guests will be talking about the decor and not the actual event.
